A two-hour creative workshop exploring resilience, change and hope through the Hero’s Journey, where you’ll create your own handmade zine us
What stories do you carry with you?
Join us for the third Art Therapy Club session at Sabi Sounds — a two-hour creative gathering exploring personal stories of challenge, change, resilience and hope.
Hosted by Su Mei Tan, from @art.tearapy, and Dan, Founder of HOISZN, this session uses Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey as inspiration for a creative exploration of our own stories. You’ll create your own handmade zine using collage, drawing, painting, writing and mixed media.
Together, we’ll reflect on where we’ve come from, the challenges and turning points we’ve experienced, what has helped us along the way, and what we want to carry into the next chapter.
This session also celebrates the release of HOISZN 009: The Hope Issue, bringing together the HOISZN community and Art Therapy Club around the shared theme of hope.
What to Expect
✂️ Create your own handmade zine
🎨 Explore collage, drawing, painting, writing and mixed media
🌱 Reflect on change, resilience, survival and hope
📖 Use the Hero’s Journey as a creative framework for your story
☕ Tea buffet and a pastry from Sabi Sounds
There’s no need to create a perfect piece of art or tell a neat, finished story. This is a space to slow down, make something with your hands and explore your experiences in whatever way feels right for you.
Sharing is always optional, and there’s no “right” way to make your zine. You can interpret the prompts in your own way and choose what you’d like to keep private.
No art experience is needed. Just come as you are, get creative, and leave with a small handmade book holding a piece of your story.
