The experimental launch 🧪
Last Sunday, we cracked open HOISZN 007: The Experimental Issue at No Vacancy Gallery, surrounded by art, sound, and the beautiful chaos of our creative community. Hosted within Juniper Care’s Limitless Play group exhibition, this launch was all about trial and error, happy accidents, and the kind of wild, unfiltered experimentation that has driven our 7th edition of HOISZN.
And yep — this is our biggest issue yet! With 36% more HOISZN than ever before, our 82 pages this time around are packed with experimental art, writing, and even an excerpt from Vivian Nguyen’s play WERKAHOLICS.
Limitless Play 3–16 NOV 2025 at No Vacancy Gallery 🖼️
Limitless Play, curated by Joshua So, transformed the gallery into one giant creative playground featuring works by Joshua So, Annabel Le, Tim Sta-Ana, Felix Pear, and Lae Um. Between Tim’s installation spitting out 3D printed sculptures 24/7, and Lae’s giant plush doll Cutlet, attendees joined in with interactive drawing and writing activities inspired by the exhibition’s playful spirit through prompts written by the artists themselves.

As Benjo’s chill, experimental tunes filled the space, guests sipped tea, nibbled on sushi, pandan cake, and coconut waffles, and flipped through The Experimental Issue — discussing art, creative process, and everything in between.
Together, we also raised $300 for the Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA), supporting Aboriginal children and communities across Victoria.
This event was a proud moment for us at HOISZN. A moment in our history where we realised how big and official this has all become. Being in No Vacancy gallery, with music and catering, amongst 60+ of our readers and community members. We had always imagined other, more established organisations would hold an event like this, but no, this time WE DID IT!!
We reflect on this event and pinch ourselves because how did we go from 20 people at a bar without a booking to 60 people in a gallery space with cool projections, activities, and interstate visitors 😭
HOISZN 007 our biggest and most well-designed magazine to date with a launch event that truly reflected the growth that we’ve achieved 💕 Here’s to the artists who joined us, the friends who came through, and everyone who keeps pushing boundaries with us.
