The mundane issue is officially launched
We celebrated the beauty in the everyday as we launched HOISZN 006: The Mundane Issue at Scoopy Central on their closing weekend with pop-up guests Bobby.
☁️ The chillest launch
On a cold, rainy Saturday in Naarm, we gathered under the fluorescent glow of Scoopy Central—a long term partner of HOISZN and community corner—for a quiet celebration of HOISZN 006 The Mundane Issue. It was intimate, heartfelt, and perfectly low-key. The kind of hangout that reminds us why HOISZN exists in the first place.
We originally had big plans: a whole day of events, activities, and movement across the city. But as winter crept in, we realised what we really wanted was to stay warm and celebrate slowly—with coffee, casual chats and bingsu.
🍵 Bobby pulled up with $3 lattes
Special shoutout to Bobby, who made a surprise pop-up appearance and served $3 coffees and $4 matcha drinks. The coffee hit just right, the matcha was smooth, and Bobby made a strong first impression with their eye catching McGonagall poster. Their philosophy of ‘bringing people together with coffee, a camping chair, and a warm-hearted nudge to slow down’ fit perfectly with the tone of our mundane issue.
📖 Magazine in one hand, dessert in the other
We flipped through The Mundane Issue together, reading articles, pointing out our favourite pages, and celebrating the quiet brilliance of our contributors. It was special to see our contributors’ faces light up as their work made its way into someone else’s hands and into their homes.
Contributors like Theo Huynh, Yoria Shi, and Mei Yee dropped by, and we were reminded again that this little magazine-art-project-community-thing we've built is so much more than just pages and ink.
🧋Big feels, small group
With such a tight crew, we kept it personal with HOISZN shouting everyone drinks. People brought their friends and stayed for chats, laughter, and soft moments of connection. It wasn’t a huge party, but it didn’t need to be—it was sweet and sincere.
💭 Why this matters
These quiet afternoons—huddled in cafés and restaurants, sipping warm drinks, talking art and life—are at the heart of what HOISZN is about. HOISZN 006 The Mundane Issue is all about the little things that shape our identities, and this launch felt like an extension of that idea: a space to just be together.
We’re grateful for everyone who came through, read the magazine, and shared one last Scoopy with us.
Until next time—
Team HOISZN 🌀
